The Band Camino Bursts Onto The Columbus Music Scene On Their “Never Always” Tour
Several years ago, I used to be a religious listener of Sirius XM’s Alt Nation station. Over the years, I heard a lot of different music, and it shaped a significant portion of my music taste today. This is where I was first introduced to The Band Camino. They are a three-piece alternative indie rock band originally from Tennessee. Their surge in popularity has been more recent, but the band has been making music since 2015. With four EPs and now three full-length albums, the band had a lot of material to comb over when making the setlist for this tour.
For the Columbus stop of the tour, The Band Camino brought out artists Ethan Tasch and Almost Monday, of whom fans and photographers alike were really excited to see perform.
Opening the sold-out show, we had Ethan Tasch. Who brought out alternative indie folk vibes, which was a unique way to open the night. He’s a greener artist to the scene, only having his debut album out summer of 2023. I will say, I was absolutely rocking with the harmonica sections. It’s not often we see harmonicas performed live, but it’s always a special treat when I do, and Ethan was no exception to this.
Following that wonderful performance, we had Almost Monday. If I were still an avid listener to Alt Nation, this was absolutely a band I would’ve discovered and fallen in love with. They’re an American indie pop band from California with a sound you just can’t get out of your head. I loved watching them perform, and I’ve added quite a few songs to my daily mix after seeing this show. I hope to see them come back on their own headline tour soon.
To end the night, it was The Band Camino’s time to shine. And shine they did. Their lighting setup was absolutely incredible. Their lighting director needs a raise. Along with shining, the band was also bursting with personality. And confetti. Having blue confetti cannons go off at the first song. Of course, to fit the theme, their first song was Daphne Blue, one of the songs I first fell in love with after I heard it on the radio. This whole segment made me realize bands need more confetti cannons because the pure delight and whimsy on the crowd's faces was priceless.
The trio went on to play an incredible set with many heartfelt moments and thank yous to the audience for selling out one of the last stops on this tour. With one last cigarette– and one last confetti cannon– The Band Camino left an unforgettable mark on Columbus, along with several hundred dollars' worth of confetti, which many fans and I took home as commemorative items. I’m looking forward to where this band goes after this tour, and I hope to hear them on the radio again.
